Comparing FaceTite vs KYBELLA To Treat A Double Chin

Let’s be honest – even if you follow a healthy diet and exercise plan, a double chin can still be a problem. Unfortunately, loose skin or fat under the chin can make you seem older than you really are. Although this is sometimes caused by aging, some people are genetically prone to this condition. If you are looking for a safe and noninvasive way to address your double chin, there are options that can give you positive results.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Young Cho is proud to offer double chin treatment in the form of FaceTite™ and KYBELLA®. But what is FaceTite, and what does KYBELLA do? When you visit Chiseled in Spring, TX, our team will sit with you and explain the pros and cons of each procedure. When you are ready to get rid of your double chin for good, contact a member of our staff for a consultation. Our goal is to give you a sleeker and tighter-looking neckline.

What is FaceTite?

A normal part of the aging process is the slowing of collagen and elastin production, which often leads to visible lines and creases, in addition to loose skin around the chin and neck. So what is FaceTite? FaceTite is a nonsurgical procedure that uses radiofrequency assisted lipolysis (RFAL) to heat and dislodge fat cells. This process allows collagen to be created at a much faster rate. Patients can receive a smoother facial appearance without the recovery period associated with facelift surgery.

FaceTite is designed to treat delicate areas, like around the mouth or below the eyes, in addition to a double chin. During your consultation with Dr. Cho, we can review your cosmetic goals and medical history to see if you qualify. If you have had cosmetic injections, such as BOTOX®, performed in the past 6 – 8 months, you may not be eligible for FaceTite at this time. However, we find that most people are candidates for this simple but effective double chin treatment.

How long does FaceTite last?

To begin FaceTite, Dr. Cho will administer local anesthesia and insert a small tool, called a cannula, under the skin. We then control and monitor the temperature to make sure the heat is comfortable and tolerable. The radiofrequency energy emitted by the device destroys fat cells and causes the skin to contract, stimulating new collagen. A session at our office in Spring, TX, typically lasts about 30 – 60 minutes per treatment area.

Afterward, patients return home to rest. It may take a few days for any side effects, such as swelling or discoloration, to fade away. Our team recommends avoiding strenuous exercise for two weeks after their FaceTite procedure. Although some results can be seen right after your appointment, the most optimal outcome will happen after 3 – 6 weeks. The effects of FaceTite are expected to last about 3 – 5 years.

What is KYBELLA used for?

Even a small amount of fat under the chin can cause frustration or embarrassment. KYBELLA is another double chin treatment that works without resorting to surgery. The active ingredient is a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid (DA), which works by dissolving and absorbing fat cells. The great news is that once the fat is gone, it is gone for good – so patients can enjoy their slender profile for years to come.

So what is KYBELLA used for? Candidates for KYBELLA are individuals who have tried traditional weight loss methods, only to be stuck with a double chin. If you are in good general health and near your goal weight, then KYBELLA may be the right option. Dr. Cho will assess the area and determine how much fat needs to be treated. Although KYBELLA is perfect for small or moderate amounts of fat, larger pockets may require liposuction instead.

What does KYBELLA do?

Dr. Cho begins KYBELLA treatment by applying a numbing cream at the injection site. Sessions usually take less than 30 minutes, consisting of multiple small injections under the chin. Some people only need one appointment to achieve their goal, while others require several injections spaced 3 – 4 weeks apart. Our office will let you know how many you need before we begin.

Since KYBELLA does not require anesthesia or incisions, you can return to your day as normal afterward. You may experience temporary swelling below the chin that should not last longer than a couple of days. Call the administrative staff at Chiseled immediately if you experience unusual symptoms, such as facial muscle weakness or difficulty swallowing. Continue to maintain a steady weight after KYBELLA injections to prevent additional fat from forming.
